Last 15th November 2019, I had my graduation celebration! The event was organized at The Hub right bang in the middle of Edinburgh. An amazing building and an amazing city that transports you to a different era. There was a point I had to look over my shoulder to see if I wasn’t being followed by a wizard!
It was fantastic, I met my friends Mary and EK, and we got some quality time together talking about our new hopes and dreams. The event in its self was very special. Starting with a bagpiper which actually made you feel Scottish, and then the nerves going up onto the stage to receive the diploma with my fellow peers, clothed in a toga I for one felt very special.
We graduate last February 2019 in BA (Hons) Fine Arts, after 4 years of studying, learning and producing, I for one now, I must confess, feel a little lost. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel so I’m slowly moving towards it. And to help me on that journey I thought I’d start by documenting the progress. Well, I do have to put those 4 years of knowledge into practice at some point. What by myself?! Gulp!
Building an artist’s life around family commitments and a job that takes up most of my day, isn’t easy. I am slow on producing and that can sometimes be frustrating, although from another point of view work and family constantly feed my artist self. Everything has its space and time it’s finding that equilibrium that balance’s it all out that is hard.
¡El pasado 15 de noviembre de 2019, tuve mi celebración de graduación! El evento fue organizado en The Hub, en el centro de Edimburgo. Un edificio increíble en una ciudad increíble que te transporta a una era diferente. ¡Hubo un momento en el que tuve que mirar hacia atrás para ver si me seguía un mago!
Fue fantástico, vi a mis amigas Mary y EK, y pasamos un momento muy agradable juntas hablando sobre nuestras nuevas esperanzas y sueños. El evento en sí mismo fue muy especial. Comenzando con un gaitero que realmente te hacía sentir escocés, y luego los nervios subiendo al escenario para recibir el diploma con mis compañeros, vestidos con una toga, me sentí muy especial.
Nos graduamos en febrero de 2019 en Bellas Artes de BA (hons), después de 4 años de estudiar, aprender y producir, por ahora, debo confesar que me siento un poco perdida. Sin embargo, hay luz al final del túnel, así que me estoy moviendo lentamente hacia él. Y para ayudarme en este viaje, he pensado que comenzaré documentando el progreso. Bueno, tengo que poner esos 4 años de conocimiento en práctica en algún momento.
Construir la vida de un artista en torno a compromisos familiares y un trabajo que me lleve la mayor parte del día no es fácil. Soy lenta en la producción y eso a veces puede ser frustrante, aunque desde otro punto de vista el trabajo y la familia constantemente me alimentan como artista. Todo tiene su espacio y su tiempo, es equilibrar todo lo que es difícil.
